THE LAST DROP is deep in pre-production.  I'm delighted to announce I am working with the fabulous creative team of Michael Pettyt (left) and Steven Spence (below left) to bring the latest cinematic outing from The Heights to the screen.  This Dynamic Duo have an impressive professional calibre and great working relationship that will bring a fabulous look and feel to the film.

MIke has worked with BBC1, BBC Sport, BBC 3 CBBC and Bolton Wanderers FC among others.  He has a fantastic imagination and creative flair that you can see a sample of in his showreel below.  Mike's web site is at the link below.

Steven has also worked with the BBC as Production Technology Co-ordinator from 2011 to January this year.  He is currently on camera duties on BOLTON WANDERERS FC's pre season tour of Sweden. Earlier this year he was also on camera for SCOTT & BAILEY, ITV's drama series featuring Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp.  Steven's showreel is below, beautiful stuff and obviously a guy that, like Mike, really knows his way around camera. I can't wait to start work with these two highly talented artists.

I'm currently up to my neck in story boards for the project, and Darren McGinn has also produced a concept art image (below) based on those storyboards, more from Darren on THE LAST DROP soon.

THE BENCH: The Novel

Long considered the flagship of the series, I am currently adapting the play to become my first novel.

It's great revisiting these characters and finding so much more in them, having the chance to explore the world more. Those that have seen the play will find much more here, I'm currently half way to first draft and really enjoying it.

As the novel nears completion I'll be uploading a sample for free here, there is much more on the play at the link below...

ONE SHOT: The Graphic Novel - PART 2
Picture
With so much going on (and the need to earn a crust and pay my bills) Part 2 of the first Graphic Novel Tale from The Heights has slowed down a little, but rest assured it is on the way...just can't be drawn on when...you see what I did there?

As there is a delay I've uploaded Part 1 for FREE, just click the link below.

Part 1 is very much about setting up the world, and there is the tiniest twist at the end, not sure if anyone has got that yet...see if you do.  Part 2 will be much more dialogue based with interplay between the characters as the story unfolds.

If you do download and read it do pop back and leave me some feedback here at the bottom of this update, I'd love to know your thoughts...Jx

STRAWBERRY JACK: The Radio Drama...
PictureImage by Joe O'Byrne
Darren McGinn showed me some further digital art he'd completed on Strawberry Jack, the Christmas Tale from Paradise Heights and it really made me want to put the play on again for this Christmas.  I posted about that on Facebook, Colin Warhurst (DOP on THE WATCHER, see elsewhere on the site) posted that it would make a good radio drama, and you know what? It would...so once THE LAST DROP is filmed I'll be producing a radio version of the play, and if all goes to plan it will be released two weeks before Christmas...

Jack will cameo in THE BENCH novel and is also set to turn up in ONE SHOT...

More on the play at the link below.
